When Mariah Lock was born in 1851 in Dublin, Georgia, her father, John, was 24, and her mother, Loucie, was 13.

 

She married John Perry on February 8, 1874, in Laurens, Georgia. They had 11 children in 15 years. She died in 1900 in her hometown at the age of 49.

After leaving her father's house, sometime after 1870, John Lock's eldest child married John Perry, on February 8, 1874. John was born in October 1850.

The 1880 census has John Perry and Mariah Lock Perry living in the township of Baileys 345 District GM, in the county of Laurens. Mariah and John had eleven children during the course of their marriage.

Mariah died, sometime prior to 1888.  

​

According to the 1880 census, John has been married to Dora (previously married to Mr. Higden) for two years. Dora and her nine children, came to live with John in the township of 344 Hampton Mill District, of Laurens County. Dora was listed as being the mother of 13, 9 living as of 1900.
